Each vegan journey is different – there are many different approaches that people take in terms of encouraging others to try living a vegan lifestyle. While some are rather intense with how they attempt to persuade others, Holly believes a more easy-going approach makes newcomers feel more welcome and less intimidated.
Worried about missing meat?
Holly was vegetarian for 6 years before finally deciding to go vegan after meeting her boyfriend. Although at first she was a bit scared to make the transition, she soon realized just how easy making the switch actually was as there are so many wonderful vegan options available. Holly admits that while she is often tempted by the smell of steak every now and then, being vegan is worth it for the sake of animals. To anybody out there looking to go vegan and worried about missing meat, Holly says that there are plenty of delicious substitutes.
Gentle Approach
While we love our passionate friends who go all-in with persuading others to go vegan, sometimes taking a more gentle approach is the way to go with newer vegans. Going vegan isn’t easy for everyone and the first steps are definitely the hardest.
Holly’s goal is to inspire others to make the lifestyle change because she believes it is the best option, but she aims to do so in a way that isn’t too pushy. She says, “I would never want to push my beliefs onto people, but I want to encourage others to go vegan by sharing helpful knowledge and tasty recipes!” We think this is a great way to get people interested.
Change is happening
With the help of members of the vegan community such as Holly who are dedicated to making positive change in the world, the vegan industry is definitely growing. Holly says that, “while it may seem a bit scary at first to cut non-vegan products out of your diet, new and exciting vegan products are constantly being added to stores which makes it all seem much less terrifying.” She says she feels so much happier exploring the vegan sections of grocery stores as they get bigger every day with new vegan foods and supplements to help you throughout your journey.
